I played around with blend modes and opacity because I wanted the background to show through a little through the numbers. I just love the wooden background paper. I think this would be very cool printed on a canvas but I printed it out on photo paper and framed it.

I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I even like that the numbers extend past the 8×10 canvas (I printed it on an 8.5×11 sheet). We’ll call that a happy accident!

I went in a little different direction than I first expected. Apparently I can’t stop using certain digi supplies – it’s a good thing they don’t wear out I used  Just Linens: Sorina Paper Pack and Bakers Twine Assortment No. 01 on all my recent layouts! Here’s my interpretation:

I’m finding that sticking with iPhone photos is actually taking the pressure off. I don’t expect or try to take the perfect photo. I just take any photo. When I did this project before (in 2008 and 2010), I started off trying to learn how to use my camera better but then scrambled to get a decent picture. No such illusions using my cell phone camera!

I’m going to keep the white mat consistent throughout the year but switch out the patterned paper background. It’s photo-focused and simple but it works for what I’m trying to accomplish. Plus, I did these two pages in about a half an hour – most of that was spent picking the background paper, oh and moving the date tags around!

I realized as I was about to start a layout, that this ad reminded me of printer trays and used a digital one as the basis of my layout. I can’t believe I have most of Christmas scrapped already!

Looking back, 2011 was a pretty good year. There weren’t any huge life-changing events but we did some fun things – I went to Vegas and Chicago. The whole family went to Ireland. We had a few family fun days and went to our first Red Sox game as a family. All things I’d like to do again. Here’s our year in review that I did for the template challenge at Designer Digitals:

Looking forward, I have lots of plans for 2012. I took last year off from any 365/photo projects and this year I’m going to try taking a photo every day. My plan right now is to take an iPhone photo every day if possible. Not sure how that is going to work outside of the country but we’ll see when/if that happens. I’m also hoping to keep up a project that I started with the whole family last November – a gratitude journal of sorts. In November I asked everybody in the family to write down one thing they were thankful for that day. We didn’t make it through the entire month but it was definitely a worthwhile project. I pulled our list into layout for the January Write.Click.Scrapbook gallery:

I got a cheapy planner from the Target dollar spot and am filling in my daily gratitude each day. I’ll try to get the whole family on board again in November.

These are two low-stress projects that I’m undertaking – I’ve deliberately made it easy on myself. I’ve done project 365 twice before and I know in order to keep up,  I have to make things easy.

And finally, I’ve picked a word for the year: Attitude. Although I can’t always control what happens to me,  I can control is my attitude to it. I’ve set up a Pinterest board to collect quotes about my one little word. I think my next project will have to create some art with my word to remind myself.

I used it to scrap our Christmas morning. I added some depth with the frame cluster and some texture with the ribbons and floss. I think maybe I should add a little more color – maybe later.

I really got into paint splatters this year. I think this was the start of it:

From our annual trip Ireland, which was rainier than other years.

This was done for a review of Fancy Pants Back to School line. I found it hysterical that Tommy is wearing the same shorts on both the first and last days of school.

Happy memories of a date with hubby. Chocolate and m favorite guy – can’t go wrong! Oh and those Jillibean goodies – yum!

The first of a number of photo-less layouts I did this year — I used a stock photo in this particular one. I’ve been telling people this story for years, it’s nice to get it down on paper.

Pretty simple but with clever (I think) details. The minuteman walking across the baseball field cracked me up Oh and more paint splatters.
